"I’ll prove my existence with my beast dance."
[Young Bakugo Katsuki, age four and a half. The boy was born with the same ears and tail that his mother had, but none of the other traits of a dog that she did. She had a snout that she was proud of, paws with sharp claws, and a bark that scared her husband whenever she saw a squirrel outside the window and broke the peaceful silence of the house. Small Bakugo thought that his own Quirk would be like his mom's-- he tried barking loud like she did only to make a pathetic squeak of a sound, he tried to make claws come out of his humanoid fingers, he tried running on all fours and ended up tripping down the stairs over his own feet... it just didn't seem like he'd have any of the cool dog abilities his mother had. He tried to lift the couch once to see if he had his father's super strength at least but that just resulted in him spraining his wrists.
It was nearing the end of his preschool year and everyone else already had their amazing Quirks. His best friend, whom he affectionately yet frustratingly called "Deku", had manifested what was probably the coolest Quirk in class. He could breathe fire out like his father-- but with a twist. The ability to bend the fire at his will. The day he found out, everyone was excited to see how cool his new ability was, especially Bakugo. Everyone else had boring things like wings, an extra eye, but Deku had something that might as well have been two Quirks in one.
Being part dog, Bakugo has a tendency to let his emotions take control in certain circumstances and that was the case here. He got a little too excited just as Deku was trying to show him how it worked, and he got too close. Deku's fire grazed his cheek, immediately singing the skin and sending Bakugo on the ground screaming from the pain, and now he has a scar that always reminds him to reign himself in. And remind Deku to not let his fire get out of control.
That night, after he had gotten home from the hospital his mother treated him to his favourite dinner that he hadn't been able to have in a few months because of the rarity. Sheep. And the moment the four year old scarfed down his dinner something happened to him. He felt pain all over his body and howled to the sky as suddenly-- fur appeared all over his skin, a snout jutted out of his face, and his hands were turned into clawed paws just like his mother's. It was scary, at first, but as his parents freaked out and fussed over why his body had changed so drastically he realized something.
It was his Quirk.
Since then he carries a pack of home-dried sheep jerky on him at all times, and he's gotten pretty damn good at switching between full-wolf form and small wolf form. In his full form, he has something like super strength. It's not exactly that, he doesn't become any stronger than he already is but it's more like while he's in that state, his adrenaline pumps through his veins faster than it normally would giving him a frame of time to go up to 130% of his body's power. Of course if he's not careful with this, like if he tried to lift a car for more than a few seconds, he could easily get carried away and rip the tendons in his arms or legs like any other physical Quirk. He's not limitless, but there's still plenty he can do in this state. On top of that he has all the abilities a dog has while he's like that-- he can hear extremely well, smell extremely well, bark loudly and as aggressively as he feels like and he has thick claws and sharp teeth. He's effectively a perfect werewolf which is why his Quirk was changed from "Dog" to... well. "Werewolf."
And today was his first day of getting to really show off his abilities.
Him and his best friend Deku had both applied to U.A together, the school their idol, All Might had went to and both were accepted. Of course they were split up during the exams they took to get in. Bakugo exclaimed angrily how he wanted to make sure he defeated more of those robots than Deku and he couldn't if they weren't in the same exam, but it was fair to make sure classmates weren't together in case of Hubris. In either case they both ended up tying, though Deku was ahead with Rescue points as Bakugo had.. zero... and they were put in the same class.
It was the first day and they were put to the test with physical fitness exams, told that the person in last would be expelled. Everyone was ready to show off what they got, and Bakugo ended up one of the top three. He can't use his Quirk too many times in one day or he'll overwork himself so he had to be picky with what tests he used it for. He used it for the ball throwing, the 100M dash, and a few others that involved strength or speed since those areas where were he excelled in and all his scores were fairly high. His ego was fairly high as well, but he wasn't satisfied only being third in the class. He wanted to be at the very top, better than all the other losers in his class even Deku. Because he wanted to be the Number One Hero, and beat out even his idol.
..speaking of, unbeknownst to anyone, All Might was one of their teachers.
They had final period with him and his appearance caused everyone to freak out. Deku was in tears seeing him, and Bakugo tried to act like he didn't care but his tail was wagging at speeds faster than it should be able to. He was in charge of teaching the subjects that had to do with being a hero-- subjects like rescue, team combat.. things like that. Of course it being day one his class was more just orientation but the students still left with excitement and a huge impression on their minds. Bakugo even snuck up to him at the end of the class and shoved his notebook and a pen at him to get an autograph, though he refused to even smile about it as if he was bothered by the Mere Idea of getting an autograph despite asking. All Might found it endearing, and signed it happily.
Now the day was coming to an end, and he and Deku were walking home together. The excitement was still fresh in both of their minds, and Bakugo felt a new sense of determination swell up inside of him. Determination to be the best. Determination to have All Might watch as he surpassed him. And after a quiet ten or so minutes he turns his face towards his friend and gives him a sharp nudge in the side with his elbow.]
You gotta stop being such a goddamn crybaby, you shit-nerd! All Might's gonna think I'm a fucking pussycat just 'cuz I hang around you sometimes!
[Despite how angry he sounds, his tail is still waggling very happy behind him.]

Quit yer crying already, nerd.
[The dog lifts a hand to wipe away some of Deku's tears himself, brushing his thumb over those adorable freckles of his. Over the scar that resides over his eye from that nasty fight they had.]

I...I g-guess we should get going.
[On their first date.]

Y-yeah. Gotta get that popcorn before everyone else does or whatever.

Bakugo was quiet as he listened to Deku excitedly yammer on about the movie, until the advertisements started up and the boy shushed himself so he could pay attention. The movie itself was about a false Hero named Spiderman, and all the misadventures he was getting up to. "Into the Spiderverse" the movie was called, because I'm unoriginal and I love the idea of them thinking the concept of a spider based hero being ridiculous but fantastic for movies.
Anyway, it ended with applause from almost everyone in the theatre and every excitedly talking to each other about it as they left the theater. Deku looked like he was ready to jump right out of his skin from how pleased he was and that made all of this entirely worthwhile, honestly. Bakugo wasn't much of a movie person but even he enjoyed it, and he enjoyed it even more with his now-boyfriend by his side.
Once the two were out of the theatre, it was pretty late. Around midnight, since they went to a late showing. Bakugo moved to lean against the outside wall of the building, shoving his hands in his pockets and he shoots a curious look over in Deku's direction.]
So... how'd 'ya like the movie?
no subject
[Izuku's mannerisms speak for themselves, especially since he doesn't really seem the least bit tired even though they're out so late.]
I know it isn't real, but...it all felt like stuff that could really happen, you know? In a world where heroes are so few...can you imagine something like that?
no subject
[Bakugo says that with a little bit of a sneer to his expression, but truthfully.... he thought it was really cool, himself.]
I THOUGHT I SENT THIS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
[But when you think about it, it would make having powers all the more special, wouldn't it?
He steps to the side closer to Bakugou before reaching out to take both his hands in his own, smiling up at him.]
Thanks for taking me. I really had a lot of fun with you.
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
...whaddya' mean "had"? We ain't done yet.
[He's got something else in mind... something he purposefully kept to himself to try and make it a surprise.]
no subject
It's getting kindof late though, isn't it...? Where are we going?
no subject
[Bakugo pulls one of his hands out of Deku's, then, looking back down at him with a little pout to his expression before he turns and starts tugging Deku along the streets.]
You don't really think I'd just let our first date end after a dinky little movie, do you?
no subject
[Izuku protests, stumbling a little before regaining his footing and falling into step after Bakugou as he drags him along beneath the flickering light of the streetlamps.]
no subject
[Bakugo scoffs that without looking back at Deku, his annoyed expression able to be felt with the tone of his voice.
And he's silent for the rest of their little escapade, walking with Deku in tow towards a nearby park. But even when they get there.. he keeps going. All the way until they're near what looks to be a closed off entrance to a little forest, blocked by a tall chain-link fence.]
Alright, you first.
[He lets go of Deku's hand and steps back, looking at him expectantly.]
no subject
[He protests, but he does decide to just let it go there once he's left pretty well confused by where they end up. The park isn't that unusual, but the fence...
He looks back at Bakugou once he's let go of his hand, suddenly reminded of all the times Bakugou would coerce him into trespassing places as a kid.]
Are we allowed to go here?
no subject
[That gets a wide grin to spread across Bakugo's face. Of course he used to drag Deku along with him in the past, sneaking into abandoned buildings or other off limit areas but this one...]
I've been going here since I was a kid, never been caught. Never showed it to anyone else, either, so consider yourself lucky and start climbin'.

Either way, once he's safely over Bakugo moves back a few feet and takes a moment stretch out his legs. Then, he runs forward and scales the fence with just a couple of pulls, flipping himself over the top and rolling when he hits the ground so he can land safely on his feet. He's done this a thousand times so of course he'd make it look easy...]
We've got a little bit of a walk ahead of us, but you can handle it right?
[He smirks at Deku, as he brushes himself off. His tail starts to wave behind him quickly, the excitement of what lays ahead starting to show through his usually unpleasant demeanor.]
no subject
Of course I can.
[He replies, watching as Bakugou's excitemnt mounts as they start to head on through the woods past the fence. This area was fenced off for a reason, which had him wondering just how often Bakugou came back here....and when?]
no subject
It does take a little bit, about fourty or so minutes of walking through that winding path before they finally come across two trees that are grown intermingled with each other about halfway up. Bakugo turns off his phone and pulls his hand back, before he crouches a little and slips between the two trees and then motions for Deku to do the same. And when he does...
He'll step out into a clearing, that's sitting on top of a small cliff overlooking downtown. There's a few wildflowers grown alongside with the grass that's tall enough to go up to their knees when they walk through it, but at the edge of the cliff the grass thins out into dirt with a log laying on it's side with purpose. As if it was put there on purpose.
And above everything else... there's a really, really great view of the moon, full and bright as it shines down on the two of them.]
no subject
The sight he's greeted with once he pulls him by the hand through those trees, though...it's absolutely stunning. He's never seen the moon this big or this close it feels like, the vantage point making it seem to hang massively in the night sky.]
Kacchan...
[He breathes quietly, the moon's light reflecting in his eyes as he gazes up at it.]
no subject
He hadn't wanted to show anyone.. until now.]
Pretty nice, huh?
[Bakugo turns around to get a look at Deku's expression, and seeing the moon reflected in those big, big eyes of his... it has Bakugo's heart catch in his chest. He looked.. beautiful, honestly. And Bakugo takes a few steps towards him, reaching out to cup his cheek within the palm of one of his hands.]
...guess this place is kinda special to me, so I wanted to show it to you. So you wouldn't think I'm just tryin' to pity you by asking you out or some stupid shit like that.
no subject
His lips quirk into a wobbly sort of uncertain expression before he just...without warning, throws his arms around Bakugou's neck with such force that he ends up tackling him to the ground, sending the two of them tumbling for a brief stint through the taller grass until they come to a stop in a heap near the log that had been set up what must have been years ago.
Even though Izuku has ended up on top of Bakugou in the grass he doesn't let him go even for a second, keeping both of his arms wrapped tightly aorund him.]
no subject
[Bakugo called out but it was too late. He tried to stand still when Deku threw himself into him like that but from the pure force alone, he ended up getting knocked backwards and the two rolled down the small incline down towards the log... Bakugo wouldn't admit it, but he was extremely happy during that little moment. He would have laughed, if he was the type of person to do so.
Instead, he lays there on his back with a sore spot on the back of his head and Deku clinging to him as if he was scared he'd disappear if he let go. He stares past Deku's head towards the moon and the stars above them, silent as the wind whistles through their hair before slowly.. he wraps his arms back around Deku, threading his fingers through those messy green curls of his.]
I thought I was the excitable puppy.
[He mumbles that under his breath, and lets his eyes fall closed so he can really enjoy this moment. This moment with Deku laying on top of him in the grass.]
no subject
Do you remember how we used to play in the grass like this? Winner pins the other.
[And he's smiling wide, because he's currently got Bakugou pinned in just that same way.]
no subject
[Whether Deku realizes it or not, that. Has. A different kind of feeling altogether now that they've officially started dating. The look in Bakugo's wide eyes isn't one of a realization that he'd lost some kind of stupid power struggle to Deku, it's.. something else completely entirely. And the pink dusting on his cheeks probably paints a very good picture of what that other thing might be.
Because Deku looking down at him like that, illuminated entirely by the moonlight with a wide grin and a smug look on his face it's... it's so... breathtaking for some reason he can't even really place. And because of that it has him act without even thinking.
He suddenly tightens his fingers around a handful of Deku's hair and leans up, in the same movement pushing Deku's head down so their lips can meet. Not in a rough, crashing kind of way but in a passionate but careful way as if Bakugo's scared to do it-- but he really, really wants to.]
