when you wish upon a star....

[Disneyland, California. All of UA decided, after a recent harrowing villain attack, that it was time for a fun retreat out for the students. A week at the park, with the students and the teachers as their chaperones.

As soon as class 1-A had arrived, Aizawa told them to partner up and to make sure they all return to the hotel by nine pm. Those were the only rules he had for the children, and they all excitedly agreed and started to find their partners quick enough. Bakugo and Kirishima, Denki and Mineta, Ashido and Hagakure... Todoroki wasn't really sure who he'd partner up with at first, honestly. Maybe Yaoyorazu but.. there was someone in mind before her. He figured Iida or Uraraka would ask him first, so he waited until he noticed them talking with each other.

That was as good of a chance as any. He walked over to the green haired boy and asked if he'd like to buddy up, and got a "yes" almost all too quickly. But it was that enthusiasm that Todoroki liked about him, and so started their week together.

They came up with a plan to hit every ride in the park over the course of the week. The first was Main Street and Fantasy land, though they couldn't do all the rides there in one day. So the second day they finished Fantasy land and then hit up Tomorrow land. They went on like this until the last day, where they saved Pixar Pier for last. They played arcade games, rode the carousel, and had a great time over all. The two of them had bought a lot of souvenirs as well, thanks to Todoroki's dad's money, and so they were decked out in character hats and t-shirts.. they looked like proper tourists. They had different hats each day, and today Todoroki decided to wear the Mickey Mouse hat since it seemed appropriate for the Pier.

In any case, it was nearing nine pm and the two of them had one more ride to go one. Just one, final ride and then they'd have ridden them all. Even if it'd push them past their meetup time, they decided to deal with getting yelled at and got on the ferris wheel to begin their slow descent to the top. Deku was as excited as a kid in a candy store, and that excitement was infectious honestly. Todoroki sat next to him, a balloon tied to his wrist and smiled as he watched the other boy pretty much shove his face into the glass as the ride started to move.]


...do you like ferris wheels, Midoriya?

[He curiously asks that question, amused at how excited he was.]

[Izuku hadn't expected Todoroki to be his partner for the weekend, but he was glad that he turned out to be, in the end. It was strange just how much fun they had together despite Todoroki not really seeming like the kind of guy who would enjoy an amusement park. He did, he just...was a lot more subdued about it. Low-key, subtle, that sort of thing. He was a boon to have around in the summer heat anyway, since it was a lot warmer here than in Japan...so Izuku took advantage of his cooler side as the walked togehter and explored all the attractions they could stand.

The weekend passed far too quickly, but now that they were on the last ride of the final day, it really did feel like they'd saved the best for last. The grand ferris wheel...Izuku looked more excited than he should be for something that really wasn't that incredibly compared to everything else they'd already done.]

Look, see down that way? You can even see the top of the hotel we're staying in!

[Todoroki leans forward a little, to look over Deku so he can see where he's pointing. Sure enough, the top of their hotel is right there, lit up and calling for them to return. Soon enough, they will.. soon enough.]

I think I can see Aizawa-sensei's angry expression through the window.

[Of course he can't, but he's trying to do a joke anyway.]

[Shhh just don't think about that right now...]

Haha...I guess it is getting kinda late.

[He leans back a little, looking over to Todoroki with a half grin.]

Well, the line was long and we were in it longer than we thought...so that's fair, isn't it?

[hyperthermia]

It'll have to be. We can't get off the ride now, in any case.

[Not that he wants to.]

[mightdoriya]

It only lasts for a few minutes though, so...maybe we'll be okay.

[It's not like they can be blamed too harshly for that...]

I had a good time today anyway, didn't you?

[hyperthermia]

Yeah.

[Todoroki nods, and he smiles a little as he thinks about the time they spent together at the park.]

...I've never been to an amusement park, truthfully. So I didn't know what to expect. But.. it's been fun.

[mightdoriya]

Really? Never, not even once?

[It's...sad, but not a surprise. Endeavor never seemed like the kind of dad who would take his kids to an amusement park, not even with their mother.]

[hyperthermia]

[He shakes his head.]

I think my mother took my siblings to one, once, but I wasn't allowed to go. I had to stay home and train.

[mightdoriya]

[Oh...

Izuku's expression softens, sympethetic, but he tries not to make it too obvious or like. A thing.]

Well...I hope you were able to make up for it this week. It's been a long time since I've been, too...I went with my mom when I was really little, but I was too scared or small for most of the rides. I just liked looking at everything and meeting the mascots.

[hyperthermia]

Are you proud of yourself for being brave enough to ride almost everything in the park, now?

[The image of little baby Deku being too scared... cute...]

Yeah! I'm at least tall enough to ride everything now, too.

[Most everything.]

I was actually kinda scared of the ferris wheel when I was little too, now that I think about it...

[hyperthermia]

Not a fan of heights?

[That's kind of funny to him, honestly. Since Deku can jump such high distances now.]

[mightdoriya]

I think...maybe? Not now but I think I was scared the ride would break with me stuck at the top.

[Something he wouldn't like even now, actually.]
